In 11,873 BC, the continent of Mu sunk. Fast-forward to now: We’re drowning in plastic and the ocean is literally swallowing our remaining continents due to climate change.

Company Mu is committed to being THE most sustainable thong and sunga company on the planet: fearlessly defending our last wild beaches from pollution, plastic and prudes.

Here are just a few ways we’re going about it:

Our fabric is made from recycled fishing nets.

All of our suits are made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon. This high-quality nylon is made from rescued waste such as fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet and plastic. Through an intense regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled back to its original purity. That means ECONYL® regenerated nylon is exactly the same as fossil-based nylon. The beauty is that nylon fibers have the potential to be recycled infinitely, without ever losing their quality. So once a product using ECONYL® has reached the end of its life, it can be recycled again into something else!

Our lining fabric is also made from regenerated nylon.

Our lining fabric is made primarily from MIPAN® Regen nylon which is GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified 100% recycled. Like our shell fabric, it’s also made from reclaimed waste such as fishing nets and pre-consumer plastic. So, yes: Our swimsuits are technically garbage!

Our packaging is made from 100% ocean-bound plastic.

We use POLLAST!C mailers which are made from a carbon-neutral process that exclusively uses certified ocean-bound plastic (OBP). OBP is abandoned plastic waste that is located within 50km from shores where waste management is inexistent or inefficient. This is the plastic that overwhelmingly ends up on beaches and the ocean, so let’s use it to ship bikinis instead!

...and there's more to come. We're constantly searching for new ways to innovate, and our goal is to make this sustainability page ridiculously long. Stay tuned!
